After the latest chapter I finally see the Straw Hats as a true Yonko-class crew. The Straw Hats show absolutely no fear or hesitation in directly confronting a Yonko or their top officers. Franky, Brook, Jinbe, Robin, Zoro and Sanji have all just directly attacked or challenged either Big Mom or a Calamity and weren’t scared or hopelessly out-matched at all. They are all fighting on their level. As Franky said, they’ve realised that these guys aren’t out of their league any more. They are all fighting on their level. People are still surprised by the Scabbards and their actions in the recent chapters. First, many people thought it was egregious that they managed to disarm and stall the Calamities. Now, that the Scabbards managed to wound Kaido, a lot of people said “Gear 4 Luffy did nothing to Kaido, why these people can?”. Well, I guess we should just give a quick look to their CVs. In chapter 986 Kin’emon and Denjiro join up with their fellow Scabbards and Izo, and they enter Kaido’s castle. Kurozumi Kanjuro is shown to have been defeated. My favorite scene was Kinemon putting his hat on Kanjuro’s dead body!! It’s reminiscent of Luffy vs Katakuri and shows that even tho Kanjuro betrayed them the Red Scabbards still saw him as one of their own! Izo shooting King’s sword off his hand so easily was damn epic!! Seeing the Nine Scabbards stab Kaido collectively while yelling “Sunachi” feels like a well-deserved payoff for their arc.
